PK (player kill)

GAMEPLAY BASICS

PK (player kill)

Every hunting field in EXTOCIUM is a combat zone. You can hunt monsters or attack other Adventurers, and winning a fight can give you a chance at their gold and items. Know the rules before you raise your PK Level.

Turning PK Off only stops you from attacking. Other players can still attack you.

PK basics

  • Hunting fields allow PK. You can attack other players in any hunting field. Attacks are blocked in town safe areas.
  • PK Level goes from 1 to 10. Players who have not been PKing have no PK Level.
  • Higher PK Level, higher risk. If you die with a PK Level, you can lose gold and items from your Vault of Time. See What you can lose when you die.
  • Low-level heroes are protected. See Low-level protection.

PK On / Off

Use the PK On / Off button at the bottom right of the HUD.

SettingWhat it does
PK OnYou can attack other players
PK OffYou do not attack other players

PK Off does not protect you. Other players with PK On can still attack you.

How PK Level goes up

Each time you defeat another player, your PK Level goes up by 1.

Your PK Level does not go up when:

  • The player you defeated has a purple skull. See Purple skull.
  • You have no PK Level and the player you defeated already has a PK Level.

Purple skull

When two players with no PK Level fight, a purple skull appears above the player who attacked first.

  • Defeating a player with a purple skull does not raise your PK Level.
  • When you stop attacking and stop taking hits, you return to a peaceful state. The purple skull disappears 15 seconds later.

Low-level protection

Heroes at level 21 or lower are protected from PK:

  • Other players cannot attack them.
  • They cannot attack other players.

Protection ends after level 21, so be careful when you reach level 22.

How to lower your PK Level

WayHow it works
Rest−1 every 20 minutes while you are peaceful (not attacking or being hit) and not moving
Dying to a player−1 when you revive in town
Naberius in Rotten Hill−1 right away for 1 Pen of Oblivion plus gold. Up to 40 times a week.

The gold Naberius asks for depends on your highest-level hero, from 10 gold for low levels up to 140,000 gold for the highest levels. Find Naberius in Rotten Hill.

PK penalties and map warnings

  • No zone penalty. PK is allowed in every hunting field, so there is no extra penalty for attacking in a particular field.
  • Attacking much weaker players costs Energy. If you defeat a player with no PK Level who is 5 or more levels below you, you lose 2 Energy. If the gap is 10 or more levels, you lose 5 Energy. See Energy.
  • PK Level 6 or higher shows you on the map. Other players in the same channel can see where you are.

What you can lose when you die

Your PK LevelVault of Time
NoneNothing is lost from your Vault of Time
1 or higherItems and gold in your Vault of Time can drop. 25% of the dropped gold disappears. Only the rest can be picked up.
  • Gold you carry can also drop, but only in fields that allow it, such as PK Leverage Zones. Store Gold in the Gold Safe to keep it safe.
  • This applies to any death, whether a player or a monster defeats you.

Carrying a high PK Level? Lower it before you take risks, or keep less in your Vault of Time.

PK Leverage Zones

PK Leverage Zones are high-risk, high-reward fields. Their names end with (PK), and a popup appears when you enter.

  • Entry gold: you need a minimum amount of gold in your inventory to enter.
  • PK Level on entry: your PK Level is raised to 6, and goes up by 1 every 10 minutes while you stay.
  • Rewards: the higher your PK Level, the better your item, gold and EXP rewards.
  • Risk: if you die, gold you carry can drop in addition to your Vault of Time.

Goblin’s Mine (PK)50,000
